Álvaro Siza Vieira, Eduardo Souto de Moura and the Porto School
The Porto School is a movement of modern and contemporary architecture, with architects Fernando Távora, Álvaro Siza Vieira and Eduardo Souto de Moura at its heart, although it traces its origins to the beginning of the twentieth century.
Architecture and the built environment are defined by a contextualisation and integration of modernism to the buildings relationship with location and traditional Portuguese architecture.
Álvaro Siza Vieira and Eduardo Souto de Moura, Pritzker Prize winners in 2001 and 2011 respectfully truly define the traditional role of architect, designing not only the building, but the furniture and lighting too.
