CORK is nature’s own high-tech achievement, its unique cell structure composition and characteristics cannot be replicated  by anything manmade.  Reusable and completely biodegradable, cork is one of the most versatile and sustainable materials in the world – environmentally, socially, and economically, with cork oak trees playing a crucial role in sustaining rural communities across seven countries on two continents, with the cork oak, the national tree of Portugal.

A 2012 WWF report indicated that worldwide around 100, 000 people depend on the production of cork, with cork forests absorbing up to 14 million tonnes of CO2 every year, and the tree native to the Mediterranean basin account as one of the 35 global biodiversity hotspots among natural wonders such as Andes & Borneo. No trees are ever cut down during the harvesting process. Bark from the cork oak is shaved even 7 years by highly skilled agricultural workers – one of the best paid agricultural jobs in the world.
