To Make a Hydraulic Cement Tile
To make a cement tile, colours are first incorporated into the various cements and then into a brass mould is fitted into a steel cast, firmly fixed and perfectly levelled. This cast has a quick lock device at one of its hinges to form the mould, and once the cast is set, allowing for the mould to be easily lifted.
To form the tile pattern with its various colours, various pastes of coloured cement are poured into the appropriate cavity within the mould. The more colours, the more time consuming the process, and the longer to create the finished tile, a factor which is reflected in the different tiles prices.
Once the tile is formed, the cement tiles are allowed to dry slowly in a specially designated chamber. Regular watering ensures the tiles are allowed to dry slowly and prevent cracking.
When drying is complete, the cement tiles are then carefully packed and taken to another warehouse, where they remain for approximately 28 days.
Non-Slip Tiles
Customers have the option of specifying a non-slip treatment to the tile, which transforms the smooth texture of the tile surface in a uniformed rough texture.
An applied texture allows the hydraulic tiles to be installed in wet areas (bathrooms, spas, swimming pools, etc) and outdoor areas (porch, pathways, gardens, terraces, etc). This will need to be ordered and may affect lead times.
Tiles meet the Class 3 according to UNE ENV12633: 2003
